Information Resources

books, reference material, daily newspapers, popular magazines, audio-visual material.

Internet

Enables the Librarian to provide information to patrons, free Internet usage for the community

Computer facilities

For use by patrons for typing e.g. projects, CV’s, letters & to learn how to use the Internet, e-mailing & MS Office package

Recreational needs

Magazines, fiction books, CD’s, DVD’s, videos, Internet, holiday programmes

Educational needs

Photocopying facilities, study facilities, library orientation programmes for schools, information resources, reference sections, Internet and a Tertiary Collection for students

Group Activities Room

For gaming purposes. TV’s and games available to the community.

Extension Services

Old aged homes, cripple care, pre-schools and library orientation for pre-schools, primary and secondary schools.

Library Orientation

Provided for pre-schools, primary and secondary schools. This is a continuous process where schools are invited to the libraries and learners are informed with regards to the services rendered by libraries. Learners are also guided in using the library and information resources, how to retrieve information and the importance of books and reading.

Holiday Programmes

Conducted during school holidays. Fun activities such as painting, drawing, playing games like soccer and reading activities are arranged for the children.

Computers to type projects, CV’s etc.
Assistance, guidance and training provided by the Library Computer Assistants

City Hall

The main objective of this function is to provide facilities to the community for the purpose of holding amongst other the following events:

Weddings
Memorial Services
Concerts
Exhibitions
Shows
Church services
Political meetings
Any gathering as required
To keep up the condition of Council facilities for public use, to deliver an effective and efficient service in this instance and to develop future diverse facilities of a high standard for use by the Dannhouser community.

Rules For Hiring The Halls

No reservation will be made and no date for any hall will be reserved unless the amount for the hired accommodation together with a refundable deposit has been paid in full.
The full rental amount, excluding the deposit, will be forfeited to council when the hirer cancels or postpones a reservation, unless council is notified in writing at least 30 days prior to the reserved date about the cancellation.
A hirer shall clean and rearrange the halls within the time permitted by the caretaker, failing which he shall forfeit the deposit paid.
